Learning Criteria to Support
Rigor, Relevance and Relationships. Throughout
out the There’s more to school success than test scores. Use the Learning Criteria to set performance targets and establish relationships for a rigorous and relevant education for all students. The Learning Criteria is one tool that supports school improvement processes through a stepwise data collection and analysis process. Learning
Criteria Poster Lexile / Quantile Study. The Lexile Framework for Reading, developed by MetaMetrics, Inc., is a scientific approach to reading measurement that matches readers to text and allows for individualized monitoring of progress. The Quantile Framework for Mathematics, also developed by MetaMetrics, Inc., provides a common scale for measuring mathematics achievement and concept/application solvability. The International Center will analyze a variety of reading and math-based materials submitted by the schools to determine the levels of literacy and math levels needed for comprehension and compare them to the language arts, science, and mathematics tested on State Assessments. Successful Practices Network Membership. The Successful Practices Network, sponsored by the International Center for Leadership in Education, is a not-for-profit membership organization designed for good schools that want to become even better. The Network provides a mechanism to share data, experiences, technical assistance, research, and best practices with one another. Members can seek peer and expert advice on school improvement from like-minded schools and education leaders. www.successfulpractices.org Needs Assessment. This service provides state education departments, regional consortia, districts, career centers, and schools an opportunity to review current program and service offerings and determine where and how to move to the next level of providing a rigorous and relevant education for career and technical education for students. State/Regional/District/School Presentations These presentations can continue the discussion of “why” we need to change schools, “what” needs to be done, and the data and materials needed to assist in the “how do we do it.
