Dr. Willard R. Daggett introduced a new initiative at the 14th Annual Model Schools Conference, sponsored by the International Center for Leadership in Education, the Career and Technical Education Institute.
At the International Center we have found Career and Technical Education to be essential to academic success in many of the nation’s most successful schools. But the perception of policy makers and the public is just the opposite. Driven by strong business involvement, schools will be pressured to change both academic and CTE programs to better meet the needs of students. The CTE Institute will address topics including: rigor and relevant connections in curriculum; academics in the workplace, collection of supporting data, identifying and sharing “best practices,” and development of tools and services to assist schools, districts, and states. Dale Eggebraaten is taking the lead role as the Director of the CTE Institute.
